"Year after year, one name stands alone as the number one spectator draw. North, South, East or West, more track operators want to book "Jungle Jim" Liberman than any other car", reported Funny Car booking agent Ben Brown in the December '71 issue of Car Craft Magazine. Unlike today, where Funny Car competition consists of corporate-sponsored cars racing in the NHRA Winston Championship series, the pioneers of the class made their living by competing in match races for appearance money at small tracks across the country. Besides campaigning one of the strongest running cars, Liberman put his name at the top of the list of in-demand touring pros by becoming the ultimate showman in drag racing.
Wild half-track burnouts; fire burnouts; backing up through his own tire smoke at 50 mph; pulling way too long wheelstands--this was just a small sampling from Jungle's bag of tricks. Halfway through his career, "Jungle Pam" joined the team and made the Chevy hero even more popular than ever. Her outrageous outfits paired with his on-track antics created a sensation wherever they appeared.

Automotive artist James Ibusuki pays tribute to the man who more than anyone helped to make Funny Cars the biggest attraction in drag racing. "Jungle Boogie" depicts a classic 1972 match race on a Wednesday night at Maple Grove Dragway in Pennsylvania. Jungle's flamed Camaro grinds out side-by-side burnouts with Lew Arrington's Brutus Mustang. (Arrington, Jungle's former partner and old pal, was a frequent match race rival on the Northeast circuit.) Moments later, Jungle Pam will guide Liberman back to the starting line for another legendary quarter mile blast. As an added touch, the artist has painted Bruce Larson's USA-1 Camaro in the staging lanes with the fiberglass body flipped up.
Funny Car match racing lives once again with this 14"x 31" museum-quality lithograph! The limited edition of 950 prints is autographed by "Jungle Pam" Hardy, signed and numbered by the artist. Certificate of authenticy included.
COLLECTORS PLEASE NOTE:
The edition of 950 lithographs is completely sold out. However, a small amount of the exclusive Artist Proof edition remain. Limited to 95 proofs, they consist of the same size and paper as the main edition but carry the more coveted "A/P" number identification. In addition, "Jungle Pam" Hardy has added an extra special touch for just the Artist Proofs. Under her signature she has written "AA/FC 117" which was Jungle Jim's permanent NHRA competition number. No further editions will be issued after the Artist Proofs are sold out.
